These Swiss made Vallorbe machinists or engineers flat Hand Files are double cut. 
Machinist files (also called Engineers files) are made to a lower standard than Jewelers Precision files. Cuts are less refined and the dimensions are different than the more expensive Precision files.  They are for working in industrial applications where precision is secondary to expediency.
